FAQ's

  • What makes Entire Performance Coaching different?
The biggest difference between Entire and other coaching outfits, is the fact that we want it as much as you do. We are professional athletes, still competing at the highest level at all race distances from super sprint all the way to Ironman. This gives a unique experience to coached athletes, where they feel heard and understood throughout their training experiences. We've not only learned from our experience so that we can help you achieve your goals, but we are still going through it day to day so that you don't feel like your on your own in your journey. Being relatable and educated in the profession allows us to apply it to your success in and around sport. That combined with a completely bespoke experience per athlete and unlimited communication, makes for highly successful athletes who achieve their goals, whether it be to complete a triathlon, or win at the World Championships.
  • How do I join?
The first step you need to take is to get in touch. Drop us a message via the contact page and Josh will get back to you to organise a call to see how we can help and what would be best for you. There is no commitment at this stage, just a chance to get to know each other, and information about what steps to take next.
  • What Happens After I Join
Once your payment has been processed you'll receive a series of emails: Confirmation of your membership, payment and subscription set up A welcome email with instructions about how to set up and / or share your Training Peaks account with our Entire Performance Coaching account, and how to join the Whatsapp group. A link to our triathlete questionnaire where you can tell us about your experience, goal race, time available to train etc so that we can customise your training plan appropriately. Put in touch with your coach for your first call. The athlete questionnaire is really important and we won't be able to create your plan until it's submitted. Your training plan will then be added to Training Peaks starting Monday of the start week you've selected and you'll be pointed in the direction of everything you need to understand and interpret your plan and training sessions by your coach. Other than that it's a case of introducing yourself to your fellow team mates in Whatsapp and starting your training journey!
  • I have a pre-existing medical condition / Injury - does that matter?
This will essentially come down to your doctor's advice. As part of the set up process once you've joined, we'll need you to complete a medical questionnaire asking you the following questions: Has your doctor ever said that you have a heart condition and that you should only do physical activity recommended by a doctor? Do you feel pain in your chest when you do physical activity? In the past month, have you had chest pain when you were not doing physical activity? Do you lose your balance because of dizziness or do you ever lose consciousness? Do you have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by a change in your physical activity? Is your doctor currently prescribing drugs (for example, water pills) for your blood pressure or heart condition? Do you know of any other reason why you should not do physical activity? If you answer yes to any of these you'll need your doctor to confirm you're OK to train before we can produce your training plan. With injuries, again your medical professional is the go-to person to help you understand what you can / can't / should / shouldn't do in training. We will give advice on how to alter your training schedule in line with your injuries but are not able to give medical advice
  • How much time do I need to commit?
This is completely down to you. We start by talking to you and understanding your weekly availability to train. We aim to integrate your plan into your day to day lifestyle to have a good balance in order for you to enjoy your training and allow you to have more headspace and time to do the things you enjoy whilst still achieving your goals within triathlon.
  • What Kit and Equipment is essential?
There's really not a great deal of 'essential' kit required. We usually recommend a multisport watch (or bike computer and run watch) and HR monitor so that we can monitor your training better through training peaks. For your pool-based swims just goggles, swim hat and a pull buoy (which you can often get from the pool anyway). For open water swims you'll likely need a swimming wetsuit, especially if your goal race requires you to wear one. You can often hire wetsuits for training and racing if needs be. A road bike is absolutely fine for your bike training and racing and a turbo trainer is going to be necessary for your indoor bike sessions. It doesn't need to be an expensive turbo full of features - one for £100 or less will do everything you need for our training sessions. Apart from running shoes the only other 'essential' on the kit list is a heart-rate monitor. Extras like power meters, aero bars / helmets, triathlon specific bikes, race wheels etc. will all help improve your performance but are by no means essential for any of our training sessions.
  • Do Entire have race kit?
Absolutely. We have our well known pink suits and much more on offer. Stand out from the crowd in our top of the range gear from both Nopinz and Bioracer!
  • I'm completely new to Triathlon, does that matter?
No! There is nothing more satisfying for a coach than watching their athlete’s progress, and even more so when you are there from the very beginning!
  • Why should I work with a coach?
Hiring a coach can make a huge difference - not only with planning workouts but also in keeping you motivated, accountable, and on track. A coach can assess when to push harder and when to let your body recover to absorb the training. If you're new to triathlon, a coach can help navigate the complexities of training and recovery, as well as race day execution, plus save you from making many rookie mistakes. If you are an experienced athlete, our coaches use today’s latest technology, which will take you further, maximizing the time and effort you invest in every workout, in order to have a breakthrough season and achieve your ultimate goals.
  • How many packages do you offer?
We offer 4 packages of one to one coaching which all provide the same service. They work in a similar way to a phone tariff, where the longer you subscribe for, and people you join with, the cheaper the subscription becomes. We also provide a training plan / coach hybrid package, which is a cheaper version of 1-1 coaching called the Entire Performance Academy.
  • What makes my plan custom?
Your coach will take the information you provide in the Athlete Questionnaire at the beginning, plus the information you give them during your first meeting to develop a one-of-a-kind training plan made specifically for you. Your coach will take in factors such as experience, health, goals, available time to train, and any of your other commitments to devise the plan. All plans are adjustable, the frequency of the adjustments will depend on the Training Package you select. As time goes by, your coach will use the quantitative and qualitative data provided by TrainingPeaks to analyze and plan your future workouts.
  • Is there an initiation fee?
No, we don't require an initiation fee at all, just your first month of subscription payment.
  • How does training get delivered?
Our plans are all delivered by training peaks in such a way that makes it quick and easy to get an organised, informed, and detailed schedule to you at the right time. If you've never used training peaks before don't worry - it's a great piece of online software. It takes just a couple of minutes to create an account and will make it really easy for you to see what you should be doing, when. We provide a premium training peaks account to all of our 1-1 coached athletes.
  • Will there be guidance to help me understand the training sessions?
Yes - each session will come with a detailed explanation of what you should be doing, at what level of intensity and how long for. You will work closely with your coach to communicate and help understand what you're doing and why you're doing it. The more you ask, the more they will provide.
  • Do you help plan my race season?
Yes! We will quickly establish what your primary goals for the season are and establish a race season built around those goals, with advice on what races to do to help prepare you to achieve them.
